Pawsitive Training Center — Dog Training in Anderson, CA

Pawsitive Training Center is owned by Marty Strausbaugh, KPA CTP, a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. His continuing education includes seminars and coursework covering aggression, operant training, reinforcement strategies, canine play, tracking, and behavior.

Training is centered on private puppy instruction and customized board-and-train. Private lessons can begin with puppies as young as eight weeks and address potty and crate training, basic commands, biting and mouthing, socialization, resource guarding, separation anxiety, and jumping. Board-and-train costs $100 per day, generally lasts two to four weeks, and includes two to three short training sessions per day plus reinforcement throughout normal interactions. A private lesson is required when the dog returns home so the owner can learn the new behaviors.

The methodology is explicitly positive reinforcement and uses a mark-and-reward approach. Group classes have historically covered manners, loose-leash walking, AKC CGC preparation, Rally, tricks, and other specialty skills, though the site currently says classes are not being conducted. Home-style boarding provides a fenced grass yard, climate-controlled playroom, supervised interaction with a small number of friendly dogs, and overnight crate sleeping.
