K9 Courage Dog Training operates out of Manteca, about 30 minutes from Modesto, with trainers Daniel and Lily running the programs. According to their site, Daniel designs custom training plans based on each dog's breed, age, and specific issues, while Lily handles much of the hands-on training and client communication, a division of labor that shows up repeatedly in client reviews.
Their board and train program, which they describe as their most popular offering, takes an in-home approach: dogs stay in the trainers' home rather than a commercial kennel, training daily over two to six weeks or more. They emphasize that sessions happen in real-world settings, parks, neighborhoods, trails, rather than a controlled training room. The idea, as they explain it, is that skills practiced amid actual distractions transfer more reliably to a dog's normal life.
The business says it works with aggression, reactivity, fear-based behavior, and rescue dog adjustment alongside standard obedience and puppy training. They state that every program includes lifetime support at no additional cost, and that board and train clients receive daily photo and video updates. Private lesson packages are also available for owners who want to learn handling techniques themselves, with tiered options depending on how much coaching they need.
