Canine Protection International — Dog Training in Frisco, TX

Canine Protection International built its training methodology by studying European dog sports, K9 law enforcement, industrial security, and elite SWAT K9 units throughout the 1980s and 90s, according to their website. The Frisco-based company now applies that background to producing what they call "functional" protection dogs, drawing a distinction between their approach and sport training programs like schutzhund or ring sport. Their position, as stated on their site, is that competition-trained dogs perform in controlled environments but may not respond effectively to real-world threats.

The company offers three tiered programs. The Obedience Dog program establishes off-leash control and manners. The Executive Protection Dog program adds bite development and basic handler protection exercises. The Elite Family & Estate Protection Dog program, their most advanced offering, includes what they describe as proprietary "Advanced Handler Protection Exercises" with names like Aggressive Secure and Covert Secure, along with training against multiple attackers. They specialize in German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois.

Their materials emphasize that dogs are trained to behave as friendly household companions by default, engaging protectively only on command rather than interpreting threats independently. They describe matching each dog and program to the client's lifestyle through a detailed questionnaire and phone consultation, serving families, executives, and individuals seeking personal or estate protection. Board-and-train and in-home training options are available.
