Wendy Jeffries Dog Training

Wendy Jeffries came to dog training through an unusual path. According to her website, she spent the 1970s performing in dolphin and water shows internationally, then worked with sea lions and parrots before turning to dogs, cats, and birds over the past three and a half decades. That marine mammal background shaped her approach—as she puts it, you can't physically force a dolphin to cooperate, so she developed reward-based methods using clicker training rather than corrections.

Her Hemet facility includes fenced indoor and outdoor areas for obedience work and socialization, plus a lighted space for agility classes. The program list is broader than most: puppy classes, basic obedience, rally, agility from beginner through competition level, Canine Good Citizen preparation, therapy dog training, and guidance for people training their own service dogs. She's an AKC-approved CGC evaluator and volunteers with Love on a Leash to test and certify therapy dogs.

What stands out in her materials is the multi-species perspective. She also trains cats and birds using the same positive-reinforcement framework, and in the late 1990s she helped start online communities for clicker training in both species—one of which reportedly grew to over a thousand members worldwide. Whether that background translates to better results with your dog is something you'd need to assess firsthand, but it's a distinctly different resume than most local trainers offer.
