About this program

What they say about themselves

Ron Bevacqua, owner and director of Dogwood K-9 Training Experience, has trained dogs for more than 28 years. According to his site, he came to dog training after a 25-year career in the motion picture industry. He holds APDT membership and serves as an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and his site indicates he specializes in working with dog-dog aggression and shy or fearful dogs.

The business offers group classes through Yorba Linda's Parks & Recreation department, as well as private lessons throughout Orange County. Their site describes a philosophy centered on relationship-building rather than command-drilling—framing the goal as helping owners become partners with their dogs rather than just issuing instructions. They note that methods are tailored to individual dogs and described as positive and non-fear-based.

A few offerings stand out in their program list: virtual Zoom sessions focused specifically on dog-dog reactivity (available nationwide, according to the site), a dedicated class for owners of guard dogs, herding breeds, and bully breeds, and therapy dog training with evaluations for Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs. The business also advertises discounts for rescue dogs, adopted dogs, and service dogs. The website appears somewhat dated, but the program range and Bevacqua's stated specializations give a sense of where their focus lies.
